Do you and your family love a holiday? Then looking into holiday home ownership is probably a good idea! The money you can save by buying a holiday home to frequent in the UK rather than going abroad can be massive.
The first thing you have to ask yourself is, is it worth it? If you like to get away quite often then the answer is probably yes. If you don’t tend to get away often throughout the year then perhaps this is not worth investing in, unless the reason behind why you don’t get away enough is down to affordability. As we’ve said already, this can save you big bucks in the long run and allow you to get away whenever you feel like it.
Another very important thing you need to consider is the holiday park on which your caravan will be situated. You’ll hopefully be there a long while so make sure you have a good look around a few before you make your choice. There are some great holiday parks in this country. They range from family holiday parks to luxury holiday parks all the way up to lodge only parks. Depending on what you want from your holiday park you may want to look and see if there are any specifications required of a holiday home for each park.
It’s not all outgoings…
On most parks there’s usually an opportunity to earn from your holiday home which most people don’t know. With this being your very own holiday home, depending on the park, you may be able to rent out your caravan to other holiday makers, when you have had a few to stay and people start recommending your caravan as a holiday destination you can just sit back, relax and watch the money come in. We strongly recommend you check the parks policies on renting first as some may not allow this.
Another handy thing to know is that usually you would be able to get finance to help you with your holiday home purchase; this will heavily rely on a credit check that will be carried out. There are also plenty of deals throughout a season at a holiday park to sink your teeth into. Keep an eye out around the major half term breaks, bank holidays and of course, black Friday and the big end of season sale’ that most parks put on.
So after reading this, we hope it’s highlighted a few things for you. If you choose to invest in a holiday home for your family, for you and your partner or to make a little extra money then we wish you all the best and luck with your new venture!
